Boston City Council is reorganized.

Through a change in the city charter, the Board of Aldermen is increased from 8 to 12 members, and the 48-member Boston Common Council is retained. The mayor is now excluded from the aldermen’s deliberations and the board must still approve the mayor’s appointments and initiatives.
